We go beyond a great facility & great equipment to ensure the success of our athletes! The talent, energy, and experience of our owners, coaches, & choreographers create enthusiasm and success in all of our programs. (Tumbling Classes, Cheerleading Classes, and All-Star Cheer Teams)
All of our instructors are required to maintain an AACCA certification (American Association of Cheerleading Coaches and Advisors). It is also required that our staff attend “in house training sessions” so that our gym provides you with a complete and consistent format. We believe that proper technique is everything. We instill this in our instructors and it is carried over into our programs. Our gym and cheer and dance coaches are USASF (United States All-Star Federation) registered and credential.
We feel strongly that we can deliver the most disciplined and extensive training available in the industry. We invite you to come by and visit our facility, or give us a call. (Contact Information) We appreciate your interest in our programs and look forward to meeting you!
Debra began dancing at the age of two and cheering at the age of 8 both under the instruction of her mother. She continued to dance and cheer competitively throughout high school, choosing to focus specifically on cheer upon entering The College of New jersey. There she played an integral part of getting the team to compete at UCA College Nationals for the first time in the school’s history. The team finished 6th in the nation in their division at the competition. As a senior Debra was named co-captain and began to work an an assistant coach of the cheerleading squad at her high school alma mater. Debra graduated TCNJ magna cum laude with a bachelor of science in business administration and a concentration in mathematics and human resource management. Upon graduation Debra continued to coach high school cheerleading and earned a master’s degree in secondary education and mathematics. While teaching middle and high school math on Staten Island Debra earned a professional certificate in school building leadership/school administration and coached at the same Staten Island high school from 1999 to 2015. While there Debra also played a major role in developing the program into a national contender. She introduced the team to UCA nationals and her teams qualified for nationals every year that they attended regionals. In 2014 the team had it’s most successful finish of 9th place in the nation. Debra is married to Neal for 10 years and is the mother of beautiful twin girls, Charlotte and Francesca. She is certified in first aid, CPR, AED and concussion training. She is also AACCA certified and is currently pursuing her USASF credentials.
Devin has coached for the past 16 years at both the elementary school and all-star level. She began coaching in 1999 at a Staten Island CYO program where they earned their first ever Island title. Devin took a hiatus from coaching the school team to assume the role of coach at an all-star program for three seasons. After her tenure there, she returned back to her CYO team and eventually became the director of their program. She is overjoyed by the strong bond that she and her girls had and relishes the fact that she helped coach them through their most successful seasons. Devin is CPR/AED/First aid certified and is pursuing her AACCA certification.
Cristal began cheering at the age of 5 and moved her way into the world of competitive cheerleading from the ages 7-18. During her high school years of cheering and practically living at the gym, Cristal began teaching tumbling classes to kids from pre-k through high school.
In 2010, Cristal graduated from the University at Albany with a Bachelors degree in Communications and continued her education by attending College of Staten Island. There she received her Masters degree in Education under 2 certificates (general education grades 1-6 and students with disabilities grades 1-6). While subbing, Cristal worked for several different after school programs where she transitioned from an activity specialist to a teacher role.
She now works as a special education teacher in Brooklyn at an elementary school and is currently working on getting her early childhood license (birth-grade 2). And to add to her schedule, she tries to find the time to tutor kids in grades K-5 and work birthday parties on the weekends.
Lou brings to us a wealth of well rounded experience. He has tumbled and cheered for the Brooklyn Nets and the NBA from 2002-present. He has also worked for UCA from 2001-2008 and has enjoyed many years working for the company instructing camps and clinics. Most impressively, Lou could be found as the mascot of the NJ/Brooklyn Nets from 2008-2014. Coming to us from New Jersey, he has dedicated his time as a tumbling coach at Star Athletics and CJA and more recently was a member of the Just Cheer and NJ Heat Open Teams.
Lauren has a competitive background in cheerleading for her elementary school, and dancing for a local studio from ages 8-18, where she also choreographed for a few years. In 2011, she graduated from Wagner College with a B.A. in Childhood/Special Education 1-6 and Psychology. Before beginning graduate school, she became a Special Education Paraprofessional in a District 75 public school on Staten Island. She worked as a classroom and 1:1 paraprofessional for children with severe handicaps and children on the Autism Spectrum. During this time she worked closely with experienced teachers using ABA strategies and techniques. Lauren also worked for On Your Mark at an after-school program held at my school. She then transitioned into the teacher role when she was appointed a position as the Special Education teacher in a District 31 public school on Staten Island. She was able to take what she learned as a paraprofessional and apply it to her Horizon classes where she worked solely with children on the Autism Spectrum. In the summer of 2014, Lauren attended training for the ASD Nest Program at Hunter College, and also received training for SDI classes at NYU the following fall. As of June 2015, she has received her Master’s Degree in Teaching Literacy K-12 from Touro College. Since high school when she worked as a home aide, Lauren knew that special education was her calling. Over the years she has volunteered for organizations such as The Grace Foundation and Autism Speaks, and her passion for children on the Autism Spectrum and all children with special needs continues to grow! Lauren is so excited to be a part of this amazing opportunity and change we are going to bring to the fabulous world of cheerleading!
